Must-see holiday Movies for Fashion and Jewellery Lovers

Holidays!

We wait for this exciting time of the year with all the gusto and planning, to savour every moment.  This time, however, the COVID pandemic has most of us homebound. That said; there is still a lot to be grateful for and look forward to in the coming year.

Here are our Holiday movies recommendations that promise to be easy on the eyes, mind and will cheer those spirits right back up. Get those cosy throws out, make yourself a hot cup of cocoa, gather with friends and family (or by yourself, if the confines of homebound family bonding are getting a little overwhelming) and resign yourself to the dramatic fates of the divas and gentlemen of the silver screen. Happy viewing!

1. Ocean’s 8

ocean's 8

What happens when you partner with an iconic jewellery brand like Cartier for a movie? You are in for a visual treat, and that is what Ocean’s 8 delivers. A spin-off of Ocean’s trilogy, Debbie Ocean (Sandra Bullock) gathers an all-women team of professionals to pull off the ultimate jewellery heist at the Met Gala. A movie with stellar star cast comprising of Cate Blanchett, Anne Hathaway, Rihanna and Helena Bonham Carter among others. This film is all glitter and glamour!

2. Sex and the City

When thinking of a high fashion movie, it’s impossible to give Sarah Jessica Parker and Sex and the City a miss. We recommend, you watch both movies, and while you are at it, why not revisit the series? With Patricia Field as the series and the movies costume designer, every inch of the frame screams style and inspiration. Fashion on screen doesn’t get better than this.

3. Priceless (Hors de prix)

Audrey Tautou & Gad Elmaleh in Priceless is a 2006 French rom-com that ticks all the right boxes of being the perfect holiday watch. Priceless is a love story of gold-digger Irene (Audrey Tautou) and naïve bartender Jean (Gad Elmaleh). Watch the movie for incredible chemistry, Irene’s glamorous outfits, Jean’s dapper style and plenty of laughs as these con artists try to hustle the rich and the vain while falling helplessly in love with each other.

4. Jodhaa Akbar

If you love world cinema, history and grandeur, we highly recommend the Bollywood movie, Jodhaa Akbar. A staggering 214 minutes film, starring former beauty queen Aishwarya Rai Bachchan as Princess Jodhaa and the Indian heart-throb Hrithik Roshan as Mughal Emperor Akbar. The movie is a period drama with detailed and elaborate costumes and sets that leave one awestruck. At the heart of the historical drama is a love story that brings it all together.

5. Breakfast at Tiffany’s

An Audrey Hepburn marathon! We couldn’t select one; and since it’s the holiday season, it’s the perfect time to indulge in some classic and timeless re-runs or first time viewing (if you have been living under a rock!) of movies that bring joy and sartorial inspiration. From Roman Holiday to Funny Face to Sabrina to My fair lady to How to steal a million and the ever so iconic Breakfast at Tiffany’s, Audrey never fails to impress and delight fashion connoisseurs across the world.

We hope you enjoy these movie recommendations as much as we have enjoyed putting them all together. Happy watching and Happier Holidays!
